Sales Representative
Key Responsibilities:
· Achieve sales targets (POG) within his/her territory through demand creation activities, Development of a precise sales activities master plan, Maximizing the value of company's technologies, Management of distribution channels including DSO and A/R past dues
· Adherence to Safety (Actively participate in Company's Safety Program, Work with care and consideration for your own health and safety and the health and safety of others, Adhere to all safe working practices and safety procedures adopted by the company, Complete all required driver safety training and at all times comply with company's Vehicle Safety Policy)
· Compliance to corporate governance (Ensure adherence to business conduct company policies and procedures (business conduct) including but not limited to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) policy)
Specific Accountabilities:
A. Demand Creation
o Implement trial program including commercial evaluation sites and technology demonstration sites (side by sides); identifying growers, explaining trial objectives, collecting harvest data, etc
o Organize and establish appropriate field activities to promote Company products through
Commercial demonstration plots – including develop demonstration protocol with TD, site and co-operator selection, site demonstration establishment, harvest data collection, results and analysis, utilization and promotion
Farmer's field days link to commercial demonstration plots: develop messages and talking points, arrange and establish field days, get commitment from participants.
Farmer's meetings: develop messages and talking points, arrange and establish meetings, gain, get commitment from participants
Other farmer's education programs: develop necessary programs, arrange and establish programs, gain, get commitment from participants
o Develop and establish field promotions through media with coordination with marketing team; utilize promotional tools effectively (i.e. brochures, banners, banner, etc.)
o Promote appropriate technology to support farmers in planting products (eg corn – i.e. conservation tillage, fertilization, etc.)
B. Sales Activities Master Plan
o Prepare and implement territory "Action plan" to meet sales & targets
o Establish timely and accurately forecasting based on market information, product positioning and competition
o Create and capture opportunities to expand the business
C. Maximize value of Technologies
o Ensure product positioning to generate high value of product/technology to farmers
o Communicate FAB and value of products/technologies/technology to farmers and other stakeholders to create demand from farmers
o Build credibility, trust and end-user perceived value. Work with customers in a collaborative fashion to understand and identify their business issues, strategies and priorities. Recommend products in response to the end-user needs. Articulate how products solve the end user's problem.
o Understand customers' and partners' businesses, address questions & barriers to adoption and sell the value of products and technologies to meet customers' needs
o Effectively manage local customer relationships and ensure good communication flow to ensure completion of sale following discussions with farmers
o Proactively resolve and record all customer issues, complaints, questions etc, working with TD staff as required
D. Channel Management
o Ensure POG, market share, product penetration and management of collection
o Build in-depth knowledge of distribution in territory for the company & competition
o Assess performance of distribution channel vis-à-vis our expectations and take appropriate actions.
o Build and establish effective relationships with distributors and dealers to ensure timely product availability
o Manage distributor/customers orders, delivery and inventory to ensure sales target achievement.
Establish timely and accurately forecasting based on market information, product positioning and competition
o Manage distributors account with their AR and account reconciliation to ensure timely collection of distributor accountability to maintain favourable DSO, Cash flow, and Security of accounts
o Provide regular information on POG and Inventories through SIS
o Distributors & dealer communication:
product information, pricing and trading terms
business processes including product stewardship requirements
o Implement marketing programs to create demand, ensure market competitiveness and to secure volume and POG
Ensure volume commitment
Hybrid mix management (hybrid, trait)
o Ensure inventory management of dealers & distributors to minimize obsolescence by providing training and continuous feedback and implementing return policy
o Continue to provide market information and market intelligence to ensure market competitiveness and sustain market leadership
o Continuously update market data and information to get updated market picture: market size, product planting trend, market segmentation.
o Provide constant feedback on social, political, and business environment affecting field operations (i.e. NGO activities, FTO concerns, etc.)
o Constantly monitor and provide feedback on market behaviour as affected by external conditions. (i.e. weather, economic activity, new opportunities, etc.)
Key Relationships:
Internal – Technology Development, Marketing, Customer Operations, Finance
External – Farmers, Distributors, Dealers, Competition, Industry and Government representatives or local government units where they operate
Minimum Qualifications
o College / University graduate. Bachelors Qualification,, preferably Agriculture, Agribusiness or Business
o Computer literate
o Good English both spoken and written is a MUST
o Current drivers licence, and ability to travel a significant degree (50%)
