We have an immediate opening for Environment & Release Specialist
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILI
This role is for a F2B Environments and Release Specialist, Singapore
The "DTD" (Derivatives Trades Database) is a generic name for the
middle tier and database combination which collectively are used by
a client "DOMAN", a front office trade entry system for OTC
Derivatives.
This role principally involves the following activities;
a. Manage the provision of global development and UAT
environments for both internal clients (developers, QA team) and
external clients (other systems that hookup to the DTD, UAT users
etc.). Team manages;
1. 21 unique middle tier applications and associated
configurations
2. over 180 instances of said applications, running on over 30
application servers in 3 separate geographic locations
3. 20 DTD Oracle database schemas and 50 Sybase databases
globally
b. Responsible for the compilation and co-ordination of
production releases to all system tiers globally for an enterprise
level system with over 1500 users.
c. Liaise with infrastructure teams where required – across NT
administration, Sybase and Oracle DBAs
d. Work closely with Change Management and Quality Assurance
functions on production release cycle, ensuring environments are
available and correctly configured for testing.
e. Apply database software changes / execute scripts in dev /
UAT
f. Add/update release components and configurations for
middle tier components globally
g. Coordinate environment set-up and configuration with down
stream systems.
h. Schedule and co-ordinate Oracle and Sybase database
refreshes globally
i. Work with clients to create new environments based on
their requirements.
Work on process automation and scripts to improve the efficiency of
the environment management and release management process.
k. Create and maintain documentation on the environment and
release processes
l. Handling Infrastructure management which includes
scheduling downtime, liaising with Windows teams for OMNI rebuilds,
performing maintenance upgrades, installing applications &
maintaining DEV/UAT infrastructure thereafter.
m. Managing virtualisation project with a perspective of moving
from physical servers to virtual servers
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree educated in a related (IT/Maths/Finance/
subject matter
WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROU
2-3 years in Environment Management / Release Management, or related
role.
TECHINICAL/BUSINESS SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
§ Strong working knowledge of UNIX / LINUX OR SLES operating
systems & administration.
§ Knowledge of release management/ configuration management
OTHER DESIRABLE TECHNICAL SKILLS
§ VB/Batch Scripting
§ Knowledge of XML / XSD / XSLT
§ Basic Database administration and intermediate skills with SQL
§ Perl Scripting
§ Working knowledge of J2EE applications
