Mercy Corps, an international relief and development organization that focuses on alleviating hardship, reducing poverty and improving living conditions of vulnerable populations in crisis urgently searching for qualified Indonesia citizens for:
ACEH HEALTHY SCHOOL PROGRAM MANAGER (based in Takengon)
The Program Manager will be a member of the Mercy Corps Aceh management team and participate in strategic decision making, proposal writing, and donor relations. S/he will also be a key member of the Indonesia-wide health team and contribute to Mercy Corps' expansion of the healthy schools initiative into other parts of Indonesia.
Program/Department Summary:
MercyCorps is implementing a Program (AHSP – Aceh Healthy Schools Program) running in AcehProvince, namely: Benar Meriah and Aceh Tenggah. AHSP main target is addressing the problem of anemia in 200 schools, approximately 20,000 beneficiaries (students of elementary schools only).
The strategy MercyCorps is using to fight anemia is the following:
* Distribution of FSM (helps students to recover from anemia in the short period).
* Hygiene, Water and Sanitation Programs:
* Behavior change: Mercy Corps will work on the following behaviors: increasing the practice and the quality of hand washing, increasing the quality of snacking food, increasing quantity and quality of the breakfast, increasing the use of toilets in the schools, trying to convince the families of the students to de worm all the family members
This position requires:
· Highly level in both verbal and written English required.
· Previous experience in administration and finance is required.
· Public health background or experience in health programming is beneficial.
· Previous management and leadership experience
· Knowledge of DM&E tools
· Demonstrated experience in making effective partnerships with stakeholders (government, partners, local groups, donors)
· Multi-tasking, coordination, organization, prioritization skills essential.
· Highly-developed computers skills, with strong familiarity with MS Office, Power point, Outlook, Excel and Word
· Ability to work independently and cooperatively with team members required.
· Prior experience in an international NGO/PVO or an international firm is advantageous
COMMUNITY FACILITATOR
The Community Facilitator is in charge of facilitation, community mobilization, trust-building activities, participatory events in the community, program socialization, and capacity building in the field, as well as working with other Mercy Corps staff to plan, prepare and implement field activities
Requirement:
* Significant experience in community development within Aceh Besar and Banda Aceh,
* Previous experience working in/with local or International NGO,
* Strong PLA, PRA, mapping facilitation skills,
* Basic knowledge of Economic Development activities, and/or Government Partnership activities,
* Elementary technical knowledge of health, hygiene, and environmental issues that will be useful in assisting communities to analyse their problems,
* Good command and understanding of spoken and written English
