Reporting to the Director, Chemical Development
Position Summary
The Manager, Procurement will support purchasing of materials,
parts/equipment, and services for the manufacturing of preclinical, clinical
trial and commercial materials for therapeutic small molecule and biologic
candidates. The individual will ensure procurement requirements are met with
quality materials, timely delivery, and the best possible price. The
incumbent will be a purchasing liaison between company and Contract
Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and will participate in the vendor
qualification program. The position will also manage the commercial
packaging and labeling supply chain for company. The position is open to
individuals with purchasing/procurem
pharmaceutical industry. This position will be based in Vancouver, BC and
will require regular travel to contractor sites in North America and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Work with vendors to negotiate prices on key raw materials on behalf of
Company
Develop new CMOs as needed to meet volume demands
Identify commercial packaging/labeling CMO's and manage the contracts
Represent procurement function in technology transfer teams for the small
molecule and biologics candidates
Work with Quality and Chemical Development groups in vendor qualification,
vendor audit, and vendor selection processes
Create infrastructure and develop systems and procedures for a commercial
procurement group at Company
Write and review SOPs around procurement/
Manage tight timelines using good project management skills
Qualifications required
Bachelors Degree Required, MBA preferred.
5-7 years Procurement experience.
Supervisory/
Good negotiation skills, problem solving skills and decision making
abilities
Knowledge of legal contracts and financial analysis helpful
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate
effectively.
Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; excellent time-management,
problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to work with co-workers, vendors, and the public professionally and
tactfully.
